TERRACOTTA ROOF TILES
Terracotta roof tiles are different to Concrete tiles and should be treated differently. Terracotta roof tiles do not have an acrylic paint coating like concrete roof tiles so do not need to be painted. Terracotta tiles are prone to moss buildup because of the porous surface. This can be treated with a high pressure water clean and an application of a sealer. The sealer penetrates the tile and prevents water absorbency and leaks. It also slows the regrowth of organic material by preventing water being absorbed into the tiles.
Terracotta tiled roofs also require maintenance to the bedding and pointing on the ridge caps and broken tiles replaced.
